LCM talmidim celebrated the eve of Lag Ba’Omer with singing, dancing, and bonfires with R’ Bamberger. The next day, basketballs and footballs went flying as inter-shiur sports competitions got underway. (Even R\' Mirsky joined in, with his shiur teammates!) Students in R’ Sacks’ shiur creamed both competitions, winning dinner at the restaurant of their choice as their prize.

Even if this record-breaking winter might have hampered some mishloach-manos deliveries on Purim and postponed the annual Presidents Day weekend ski trip (due to frigid temperatures!) to the day after Purim, at least it meant that Hunter Mountain had some pretty awesome slopes. LCM took advantage of the last snow of the season (we hope?) with an SGO-subsidized skiing trip organized by student Eli Feder.

About 30 Lander alumni gathered at the Rodriguez Steakhouse in Jerusalem last week for the 4th annual LCM Alumni Reunion in Israel. Former students from all over the country enjoyed a night of catching up with friends, seeing rebbeim, hearing divrei Torah and, well, steak. The alumni in attendance spanned the history of Lander, with some representatives of the first and second classes, and others who graduated in June.

Rabbi Mimon Mamane recalls an important lesson he learned during his second-year social work internship in the inpatient neurology service of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He was assigned to work with a woman with a curable form of cancer. Mamane, who typically worked with patients suffering from terminal forms of brain cancer, figured that this would be one of the easier of his cases. It wasn’t.

Last week, approximately 120 yeshiva students currently learning in Israel shuttled to Ulamei Zvhil hall in Yerushalayim for a melave malka that gave them a glimpse of what LCM, and their future classmates, are all about. Organized by LCM’s Israeli representative Rabbi Lavey Freedman, the catered event was open to those who are, or might be, interested in attending LCM next year. Attendees of the event were currently learning at K.B.Y., Shaalvim, Netiv Aryeh, Yishrei Lev, Yeshivat Shaarei Mevaseret Zion and Derech Ohr Sameach, among other yeshivot.

New York, N.Y. – More than 400 people filled the Da Mikele Illagio catering hall in Queens for the Lander College for Men (LCM)-Beis Medrash L’Talmud Chag HaSmicha to celebrate the ordination of the 2011-2014 musmachim. LCM also honored menahel and Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Yehuda Shmulewitz; alumni Rabbi Koby Milgraum ’06, Meir Milgraum ’08, Elchanan Milgraum ’09 and Micha Milgraum ’12, all brothers; and Rabbi Michael and Mrs. Shulamit Hasten.
