Lander College for Men/Beis Medrash L’Talmud offers an intensive learning program combined with a rigorous college education. While some alumni enter the fields of Jewish education or the rabbinate, many pursue careers in the professions, business and industry. These lectures, which draw upon a rich variety of classical Jewish sources and speak to the very mission of the school, explore Jewish attitudes towards academic study, the value of work, the appropriate balance between the study of Torah and the pursuit of a career, criteria for the choice of a career, and the opportunities to sanctify God’s name in the workplace. Students at Lander College for Men (LCM) began their college career by learning how to balance fulfilling limudei kodesh classes with rigorous academics. Speakers during the orientation spoke both about the chiyuv of Talmud Torah and the need to plan for a successful career. Students said they chose LCM for the ability to pursue a college education in a warm yeshiva environment.
