Rabbi Yonason Sacks Appointed Rosh HaYeshiva at Lander College for Men/Beis Medrash L’Talmud

May 14, 2012, New York, NY—Rabbi Yonason Sacks, a revered and beloved Torah scholar, has been appointed Rosh HaYeshiva of Beis Medrash L’Talmud at Lander College for Men (LCM), announced Dr. Alan Kadish, president and CEO of The Touro College and University System.

Rabbi Sacks will be joining Rabbi Doniel Lander who, in addition to leading Yeshivas Ohr Hachaim and serving as Chancellor of Touro, will be a Rosh HaYeshiva of Beis Medrash L’Talmud as well. “We are truly privileged and delighted that Rabbi Sacks will join Beis Medrash L’Talmud,” said Rabbi Lander. “His wisdom and depth of Torah scholarship are renowned and held in great esteem and, I am certain that our yeshiva will flourish greatly under his care and direction. I look forward to working with him as he leads our Yeshiva and guides each of our talmidim into a bright and promising new era of Torah scholarship as b’nei Torah.”

A leading posek and author of 18 seforim , Rabbi Sacks descends from a long line of illustrious rabbinic personalities. His great-grandfather, the legendary Rabbi Zvi Pesach Frank, served as Chief Rabbi of Yerushalayim for more than 50 years. His grandfather, Rabbi Menachem Sacks was a leader of Jewish education in Chicago for nearly six decades, and his father, Rabbi Louis L. Sacks, was rabbi of Congregation Anshe Emunah in Delray Beach, FL.

For the last quarter century, Rabbi Sacks has been a leading figure in harbatzos ha’Torah as a Rosh Reshiva and Rebbe.  For the last 18 years he was a Rosh Yeshiva at Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS) at Yeshiva University where he was ordained and awarded Semikha Yadin Yadin, an advanced rabbinic ordination. He has been the Rav of Agudas Yisroel Bircas Yaakov in Passaic, NJ for more than 18 years.

Rabbi Sacks will officially assume his position as Rosh HaYeshiva in Elul 5772-2012.
