Rav of Kehilas Ishei Yisrael in Kew Gardens Hills and Vice president of the Vaad Harabonim to Join the Faculty
New York, N.Y. – Beis Medrash L’Talmud, an affiliate of Lander College for Men located in Kew Gardens Hills in Queens, announced the appointment of Rabbi Shmuel Marcus to the eminent rabbinic faculty.
“We are very excited that Rabbi Marcus will be a magid shiur in the Beis Medrash,” said Rabbi Yonason Sacks, Rosh HaYeshiva and a leading figure in Harbatzos Ha’Torah for over a quarter of a century. “As a dedicated rebbe and devoted congregational rabbi, Rabbi Marcus is a wonderful addition to our stellar roster of rebbeim.”
Rabbi Marcus received semicha from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary where he had the privilege of learning with his grandfather, HaGaon HaRav Ahron Soloveichik. For the past ten years he has served as a rebbe in Yeshiva University’s Beis Medrash Program. He is also the Rav of Kehilas Ishei Yisrael in Kew Gardens Hills and is a vice president of the Vaad Harabonim and a member of the RCA Beis Din for Conversions, all in Queens.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to learn with the students at Beis Medrash L’Talmud– Lander College for Men,” said Rabbi Marcus. “Over the past few years I have had numerous opportunities to interact with the students and I am thrilled to join the yeshiva and be able to learn with them on a daily basis. I strive to foster a warm relationship with my talmidim that extends beyond the walls of the yeshiva and long past graduation.”
Dr. Moshe Sokol, dean of the Lander College of Men, also expressed his enthusiasm for Rabbi Marcus’ appointment.
“Rabbi Marcus brings not only considerable experience, erudition and wonderful teaching skills, but also special warmth that is so important to mold students. He will add much to our talented staff.”
