And It’s the Talmidim for the Touchdown…
Super Bowl Sunday, With a Twist
On Sunday, February 1, approximately 114.4 million Americans were intently focused on the greatest football competition of the year—the Super Bowl.
And some LCM students were indeed among them, cheering on the Seahawks (Patriots?) or gaping at Pete Carroll’s game-ending play. But if you walked into LCM from 6-9 pm, the overwhelming sight wasn’t talmidim glued to their TV screens; instead, they were buried deep in their gemaras. As part of LCM’s annual Super Mishmar, the beis midrash was rocking with about 60 guys learning together. They were, as they say, totally in the (end)zone, trying to tackle their sugyas. The talmidim got extra points, too: they scored a delicious buffet of Carlos and Gabby's Mexican food, and a $20 gift card each to Safra Judaica. It was quite the kickoff to a great semester.
