Student Life

Our campus in Kew Gardens Hills, Queens, is not just an educational institution; it's a vibrant community where academic pursuits meet personal growth and where every student can thrive academically, socially, and professionally.

You can feel the energy here. Lander has a vibrant campus where there's always something going on. The constant hum of learning in the beis medrash, the crowded halls between classes, a flag football game in the field, rebbe and student having a conversation on the quad, a huddle in the lab over an experiment, a kumsitz, sushi making, a robotics club meeting, barbecue, a guest speaker from the real estate industry, hanging in the student lounges, and SGO snacks before class, and quiet corners in the library are just some of what you might find wandering the campus throughout any given day and week. The running theme throughout is support – for your academic, personal and professional pursuits.

Campus & Activities

Our campus includes a bright and spacious 73,000 square foot academic center, complete with biology, chemistry, physics and computer science labs, a beis medrash, library, classroom, lounges, and cafeteria. You’ll cross a beautiful quad as you head over to the garden apartment dorms, or you can visit our basketball courts, tennis court, baseball diamonds, and football field (where you might find a soccer game, flag football, spikeball or frisbee game going on). Across the field you have access to a fully stocked 10,000 square foot gym.

Every week has activities on campus, whether it’s the mashgiach’s tisch, an in-shabbos, a chagigah, shiur dinners, networking events, meetups of the student clubs & organizations or majors chabura during club hour, retreats, grilling, sports, workshops and speakers on everything from building healthy relationships & dating to time management tips to computer science careers.

Shabbos

Once a month, all students stay on campus for an in-Shabbos. Together, we create our own strong Shabbos atmosphere complete with lively singing and shared meals. This coming together strengthens our community in a way that both represents and enhances the Lander experience.

Dining

There’s an on-campus cafeteria and opt-into a meal plan. For live-in students, there are full kitchens in the dorms. Events and meetings usually involve takeout from our nearby favorites. Main Street, with plenty of kosher restaurants and grocery stores is a nice walk or quick drive away.

Inside tip: Come early, and hungry, to student government barbecues!
