Scholarships

Scholarships are additional sources of financial aid that you do not have to pay back and Touro offers many internal Touro scholarship options.

Touro University provides over a million dollars in scholarships and grants annually. Students must apply each year to receive any kind of need-based aid, including the Presidential Scholarship. 

Academic Merit Scholarship

Award: Varies

Students with exceptional high school scholastic records and SAT scores are automatically considered for a merit scholarship. These scholarships are renewable for up to four years while maintaining a 3.3 GPA.

Beis Medrash Merit Scholarship

Award: Varies

Students who show a seriousness and dedication to their learning in their Beis Medrash L’Talmud interview are automatically considered for this scholarship.

Distinguished Presidential Scholars

Award: Covers full tuition and housing

Each year LCM awards full tuition and housing to several students of extraordinary academic achievement and leadership.  

Dean’s Scholarships

Award: Maximum annual award is $4,000

Dean’s scholarships may be awarded to students who demonstrate need. The applicant’s family income, family size, and special circumstances are considered. Contact the admissions, financial aid, or Dean’s office for an additional application form. Fill out the additional application form and contact the financial aid office with any questions. This scholarship needs to be applied for each academic year.

Alumni Scholarships

Award: Maximum annual award is $2,000

Supported by generous gifts from Lander College for Men alumni, this scholarship provides extra help for students with significant financial needs. 

Foreign Student Scholarships

Award: Award starts at 15% of tuition 

Foreign students who have submitted an I-20 and therefore cannot apply for federal student aid, but would otherwise qualify, can receive our foreign student scholarship. The scholarship is 15% of tuition costs for the first 24 credits earned, and 30% thereafter.

Alumni Tribute Scholarships

LCM students are also eligible for Alumni Tribute Scholarship Funds that have been generously donated by alumni in honor of their mentors or family members.

The Edelman Family Scholarship

Award: Minimum annual award is $10,000

The Edelman Family Scholarship, donated L’Zecher Nishmas Chaim David and Amichai Avrahami, is intended for a talmid who demonstrates sincere commitment to growth in Torah and academics, and who aspires to take full advantage of all that Beis Medrash L’Talmud/Lander College for Men has to offer. This scholarship is especially meant for a student of promise whose financial circumstances may otherwise prevent him from attending — someone for whom this support could be truly transformative. Chaim David and Amichal Avrahami

Chaim and Amichai were chaveirim who grew together within the walls of the Beis Medrash in Yeshivas Ohr HaChaim, Queens, NY. Both were outstanding talmidei chachamim, known not only for their Hasmada but also for their exemplary middos and heartfelt tefillah. They served as tremendous role models to many, and they are sorely missed.

The Hornung Family Scholarship  

Award: Minimum annual award is $10,000

The Hornung Family Scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and a clear, focused commitment to their professional goals. This scholarship is intended for top-performing individuals who are serious about their career path and are ready to make the most of the opportunities available at Lander College for Men. The Legacy Scholarship  

Award: Minimum annual award is $10,000

The Legacy Scholarship, sponsored anonymously l'iluy nishmas of Devorah Sara bas Avraham Tzvi, is awarded to students in need of financial assistance who are committed to making the most of their time at Lander College for Men. The Rabbi Shmulewitz Legacy Scholarship Fund  

Award: Minimum annual award is $10,000

The Rabbi Shmulewitz Legacy Scholarship Fund, established by Rabbi and Mrs. Hillel Feuerman and Dr. and Mrs. Yoni Rosenstein — devoted talmidim who gained immeasurably from their rebbi — is a tribute to the lasting impact of a true mechanech. This scholarship is intended for students who might not otherwise attend Lander College for Men, whether due to financial limitations or uncertainty about the next step in their journey. It is designed to open doors — to make the decision to come here not only possible, but compelling — for those who are ready to grow in Torah, character, and purpose. Rabbi Yehuda Shmulewitz, founding Menahel of Lander College for Men / Beis Medrash L’Talmud, inspired generations of lifelong Bnei Torah through his profound wisdom, mastery of Torah, and unwavering dedication to the Torah way of life and to the Talmidei HaYeshiva. With abundant gratitude for his years of devotion, guidance, and mesirus nefesh, this scholarship is established by two of his close talmidim — Rabbi Hillel Feuerman and Dr. Yoni Rosenstein, graduates of the Class of 2011 — as a lasting tribute to their rebbi and his enduring legacy. Rabbi Shmulewitz currently lives in Ramat Beit Shemesh, and has continued to be Marbitz Torah and teach talmidim each day!

The Carl & Esther Kaplan Scholarship

Donated l'iluy nishmas Carl and Esther Kaplan, this scholarship is awarded to a high achieving talmid with a profound commitment to Torah learning who demonstrates discipline and derech eretz, both in and out of the beis medrash, and whose financial circumstances may otherwise prevent him from attending Lander College for Men.
