Kenneth Danishefsky, PhD
Dr. Danishefsky has BA in Chemistry from Yeshiva University and a PhD from SUNY Downstate. He worked on identifying the platelet receptor for thrombin by using a photoactivatable crosslinking agent and discovered a novel interaction between thrombin and thrombospondin. He did his postdoctoral studies at The Roche Institute for Molecular Biology where he worked on the regulation of expression of the cardiac myosin light chain gene by performing site-directed mutagenesis.
He continued his work as an Assistant Professor at New York Medical College in the department of medicine. When Lander College for Men opened in 2000, Dr. Danishefsky was recruited to develop the science departments and he is a founding faculty member. For several years Dr. Danishefsky ran the biology departments at both Lander College for Men and Lander College for Women.
