Joseph Sonnenblick studied at the Rabbinical Seminary of America and earned an MA in Talmud Studies. He received a BA in Accounting from Queens College and later completed an MA in Jewish Studies at Touro University's Graduate School of Jewish Studies. His master’s thesis, “American Jewry and the State of Israel: Tensions and Conflicts as Reflected in the American Press, 1947–1951,” examined the complexities of American Jewish responses during the formative years of the State of Israel. He is currently enrolled in Touro University's Graduate School of Jewish Studies' PhD program as a doctoral student in Jewish history.
Mr. Sonnenblick began his professional career in public accounting and later worked as a computer analyst at major banks and Wall Street firms before transitioning into Jewish education. Since 2001, he has been teaching Medieval and Modern Jewish History at Lander College. He also taught Jewish history at the North Shore Hebrew Academy High School from 2004 to 2019, where he was awarded a grant from the Avi Chai Foundation in recognition of his innovative integration of PowerPoint presentations and video into the classroom.
