Merin Verbit, PhD

Professor of SociologyLander College for Men

Mervin F. Verbit is a sociologist who specializes in the sociology of religion and contemporary Jewish life. He was president of the Association for the Social Scientific Study of Jewry, is a fellow of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, and has directed numerous academic projects in the Jewish community (among others, the North American Jewish Data Bank and the Interuniversity Fellowship Program in Jewish Studies). He has also served on the boards and committees of several national and international Jewish organizations.
